New Focus Gallery exhibition at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Reflections: Portrayals of and by African Americans, on view April 10–August 19, 2018

This special exhibition is part of “Buildings and Belonging: Mapping the African American Experience at Vassar College since 1861,” a campus-wide project initiated by the African American Alumnae/i of Vassar College (AAAVC) to illuminate the enduring contributions and presence of African Americans on campus. The exhibition will display select works by African American artists from Vassar’s permanent collection.


MODFEST returns to Vassar as artists explore the theme of “Adapting” in an everchanging world through written and spoken words, visual arts and performance, February 1 - 11, 2018

Modfest, Vassar College’s annual exploration of the arts of the 20th and 21st centuries, will consider the concept of “Adapting,” February 1 – 11, 2018. Throughout these two weeks, artists will examine different perspectives of what this can mean in our ever-changing world through written and spoken words, visual arts and performance.


Family Day event (10/22) and Preschool Storytime programs (10/27 & 11/17) to be held at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center

The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College is hosting several free events for children this fall. Family Day, designed for children ages 5-10, will take place in the sculpture garden of the Art Center on Sunday, October 22, 1:30-4:00pm. The event will feature fun, hands-on activities related to the art on view in the galleries, along with kid-friendly mini-tours. Activities are ongoing so families can drop in at any time during the program. This fall’s Family Day will highlight different printmaking methods and materials in celebration of the Art Center’s current exhibition of prints by American artist Helen Frankenthaler.

Please note that due to Covid-19 restrictions, we cannot accommodate group tours at this time, and capacity in the galleries is limited. All visitors are required to wear masks.


Admission is free and open to all. All galleries are wheelchair accessible.


Parking is on Raymond Avenue only. Entrance to the galleries is via the Raymond Ave. gate through the sculpture garden.
